Looking at the dolmens and ancient artifacts found in Namhae, a county famous for the longevity of its people, it seems that a civilization has already been established in Namhae region since the prehistoric times. but exactly how many dinosaurs lived or how many people lived in those times is unknown.
The demographic that started in the 1900s still remains and according to this data, Namhae-gu’s population has continually increased and recorded the highest population in 1964 but with accelerating industrialization, the population has been decreasing since then.
The number of households was highest in 1969 at 22,753 households but since then it continually decreased but recently the population has also been decreasing whereas the number of household seem to increase. This is probably because we live in the era of nuclear family.
Also, the under-65 population in decreasing but the over-65 population is increasing and Namhae is famous for the longevity of its people
