In order to promote and create a new image for special agricultural, livestock and maritime products, tourism, sports and festivals of Namhae County, in October 2002, the county started to develop a unified brand for Namhae and, after gathering opinions and suggestions from the people of Namhae, carrying out surveys in major consumer spots including the Shinsegae Department Store in Seoul and after fair and careful evaluation, in June, 2003, the county finally selected and applied for a patent on the unified brand, 'Treasure Island'. Then, after a year of evaluation process, the brand finally became a registered brand in July 2004.

Also, the national consumer survey on local government brands, which was conducted in 2007 on 7 million members of iMBC, Donga.com, Hangyeong.com and Korean netizens over the age of 16, Namhae County's 'I Love You, Treasure Island' received the greatest support of 46% among all local government brands in the county, showing consumers' high awareness of Namhae's unified brand.

The trademark of the unified brand 『Treasure Island』 may not be used without prior authorization from the Mayor of Namhae-gun and any unauthorized use of the trademark can be punished nuder the Trademarks Law.

  • The green color symbolizes environment-friendly certification and the blue color symbolizes the clean ocean.
  • The image depicts the Changseon-Samcheonpo Bridge and Namhae Bridge which connect Namhae Island to the mainland and it represents the superb quality of agricultural, livestock and maritime products from the pristine Namhae Island and its ocean as well as the quality of the island itself.
  • The term, 'Treasure Island' means that all the agricultural, livestock and maritime products, special regional products, history, culture, tourism, leisure and sports activities of Namhae Island are the true treasures Namhae County.
